Episode 49 – Sergeant Russell J. Wright, U.S. Army
Welcome to Episode 49 of the Voices to Veterans podcast. This episode features the story of Sergeant Russell J. Wright, U.S. Army.
Russ served with the Americal Division during 1970–71 in the northern provinces of South Vietnam, patrolling through the jungles, the rice paddies, and the Central Highlands. His story provides a vivid account of the life of an infantry soldier during the Vietnam War.

As Russ’ sister, I was once again reminded of the sacrifices he and his fellow servicemen made during their time in Vietnam. Listening to the podcast of his experiences beginning with his induction in the Army to his incredible bravery in SE Asia at such a young age, gives me pause, and I’m so thankful Russ made it home safely and that he continues to find comfort and lasting friendships with the other men in his company.
I continue to be impressed with David Grogan’s commitment to giving our servicemen and servicewomen the opportunity to share their story of bravery and love for our country.
