The Hawk Enigma by J.L. Hancock
When you read a book by a new author, you never know what you are going to get. What I got with The Hawk Enigma was a thrilling ride from beginning to end. It had all the ingredients I love – international intrigue, action, ties to the military, amazing technology, and most of all, a great story. I listened to the Audible version walking my son’s dog twice a day and then supplemented it by reading the Kindle version at night – I couldn’t plow through it fast enough.
The story’s main character is Voodoo, a techno-whiz facilitating Seal Team operations. When a Japanese scientist working on an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm that has the chance to spur a new worldwide arms race is brutally murdered and his co-researcher is kidnapped, Voodoo and a team of Navy Seals are brought in to help rescue the hostage. The trail takes them to Japan where they are confronted by a sophisticated foe weaving in and out of the Japanese underworld. The mission pushes Voodoo to the brink of his physical and mental endurance, particularly as the “God algorithm” causes him to confront the demons of his past.
I found The Hawk Enigma incredibly well-researched, well-written, and entertaining from start to finish. I can’t wait for J.L. Hancock’s next book! You can purchase your copy of The Hawk Enigma on Amazon – then strap in for the ride!
